The congress of the International Federation of Jala Neti is proud to announce its decision to name Fedor Konyukhov (Russia) the Jala Neti Athlete of 2010. Currently ranked first in the world, Mr. Konyukhov (Федор Владимирович Конюхов) was honoured for winning Gold of the Aqua Maris World Championship Jala Neti in 2010. He also did well in other tournaments of IFJN, winning Bronze of the Adriatic Jala Neti Cup and Gold of the Open American Jala Neti Championship in 2010.

IFJN would also like to congratulate runners-ups Gurumayi Patanjali (India) and Michael Clark (USA). Mr. Patanjali won 3 medals in 2010 proving that he is one of the best athletes in the history of our sport. He was the first Indian to win the prestigious Adriatic Jala Neti Cup in 2003, and of course, he was the first World Champion Jala Neti in 2008.
Mr. Clark entered the Top 10 in the IFJN ranking just two years ago. He surprised many of us by defeating Mr. Konyukhov and Mr. Patanjali on the 2010 Adriatic Jala Neti Cup and by winning Silver of the 2010 Aqua Maris World Championship.

In reaction to this announcement, Mr. Konyukhov said: “I’m very happy to win this title. This gives me a lot of encouragement in my preparations for big tournaments of 2011. Especially for the Aqua Maris World Championship in August, where I hope to become the World Champion for the third time”.
